Operation of hot chamber die casting machine

When operating the machine in semi-automatic mode, there are two options for closing the mold: using the button or the protection door.

Hot chamber die casting machine preparation

Place the hot chamber die casting machine on a flat surface to ensure the stability of the equipment. The pressure chamber is placed vertically, the upper punch is located above the pressure chamber, and the lower punch is located at the position of blocking the nozzle orifice. Before starting the machine tool, the machine tool must be fully inspected to ensure that the machine tool is in normal condition.

Die Opening and Closing Operation

To initiate the die opening and closing process, start the pump by pressing the Pump Start button (SB5). Set the Working Procedure Change-over Switch (SA5) to “MANU.” Close both the front and back guard gates, and with both hands, press the “DIE CLOSE” buttons (SB1 and SB2) to close the die. Release the buttons to stop the die-closing action.

The speed of die opening and closing can be adjusted using the screws located on both sides of the solenoid-controlled pilot-operated directional valve.

Before initiating die-closing, ensure that the piston rods of the ejector and the push-off unit have reached their endpoints.

To open the die, press the “DIE OPEN” button (SB3).

Repeat the die-closing process as necessary using the above-mentioned method, and use the air bleeding valve on the cylinder to release any trapped air.

Injection and Injection Return

Before initiating the injection actions, ensure that the front and back guard gates are closed. The machine should operate with the die-closing condition and the holder in the bracing position. Set the “DIE HIGH SELECT” switch to the “OFF” position. If there is a thrust core whip action, proceed with the injection only when the thrust core reaches the designated position. At this point, the injection pilot lamp will light up. Press the injection button (SB4) to perform the injection and return actions. Adjust the throttle valve (FV4) to achieve a moderate injection speed. Repeat the injection movement using the above-mentioned method, and use the air control valve on the cylinder to release air. When performing a no-load running-in, the injection plunger must be removed.

Ejection and Ejection Backward

Set the machine to the die-opening condition, ensuring that the die-opening spacing travel switch (SQ2) has been activated. Set the transfer option switch (SA2) to the “FORWARD” position for ejection and to the “RETURN” position for ejection backward. The ejection distance is set to 60mm, and the regulation of the ejection distance can be controlled by the limit switch (SQ15).

Push-Off and Push-Off Back

To begin the push-off action, open the stop valve for the compressed air pipeline and adjust the pressure-reducing valve to maintain a pressure of 0.4~0.5Mpa. Ensure that the moving platen is in the die-opening state, then turn the push-off button (SA3) to the “knock down” position. The push-off rod will respond accordingly.

During continuous operation of the pushing utensil, take note of the following:

If there is any water remaining in the air filter, use the Water-discharging switch to discharge it.

Maintain the oil level in the atomized lubricator and check the oil dripping status. Add oil after the air cylinder has worked for 2~3 times.

The implementation of the push-off action can be adjusted in the human-computer interface. For more detailed information, please refer to the interface settings.

Spraying

The hot chamber die casting machine is equipped with two jets located on both sides of the die-casting mold for spraying the coating. The coating container (provided by users) should be placed at an elevated height on the bracket, eliminating the need for any additional pressure during coating feeding.

Connect the air supply hose to the pneumatic board and then attach the jet. Install a stop valve on the output channel of the coating container.

When operating manually, simply turn the Spray Coating button (SA3) to the “SPRAY” position and begin spraying the coating.

For automatic implementation of spray coating, refer to the settings in the human-computer interface for more information.

Detection Unit

Once the casting is extracted into the tilted scoop, it passes through the swaying gate, which triggers the responsive activation of the SQ8 switch. This ensures the smooth progression of the machine’s automatic working cycle.

The swaying gate may encounter issues under the following circumstances:

The swaying gate gets blocked by the cooling water hose.

The limit switches become obstructed by metal scraps or other debris.

Tension or Loosening of the Die-Closing Unit

Tension oil cylinders are installed on both sides of the injection bracket, with their piston rods connected to the fixed platen. The tensioning or loosening of the die-closing unit is controlled by the solenoid valve DV5.

Applying greater pre-intensity allows for a close connection between the die-casting and the nozzle, reducing the likelihood of material spurt.

The solenoid valve DV5 can push the die-closing unit further away, facilitating nozzle or heater replacement and making the cleaning process easier.

Injection operations are only permitted in the tensioned state. To ensure this, the die-closing unit is equipped with a limit switch, with the bumping block connected to the tie bar. Injection operations cannot be carried out unless the limit switch is triggered.

Manual Core-Pulling

Before manually closing the die, perform core inserting and pulling using the following steps:

In the state of the ejector back and die opening end, press the “THRUSTING CORE” button to insert the core. When it reaches the travel switch of “Core in end,” the core locks in place for self-preservation.

Press the “PULLING CORE” button to retract the core. When it reaches the travel switch of the “Core out end,” the core pulling action stops.

After manually closing the die and completing the injection return, perform core inserting and pulling as follows:

In the state of die closing and injection return end, press the “THRUSTING CORE” button to insert the core. When it reaches the travel switch of “Core in end,” the core locks in place for self-preservation.

Press the “PULLING CORE” button to retract the core. When it reaches the travel switch of the “Core out end,” the core pulling action stops.

The safe operation and precautions of the hot chamber die casting machine include the following aspects:

Work environment preparation:

Ensure that the hot chamber die casting machine’s working environment is safe, check whether there is debris or other obstacles around the equipment, and ensure good ventilation around it.

Power supply and hydraulic system inspection:

Confirm whether the hot chamber die-casting machine’s power supply is connected normally to avoid exposure or damage to the power supply line. At the same time, check whether the hydraulic system is working properly and ensure sufficient hydraulic oil.

Operator training:

Operators must receive professional training and master basic operating skills and safety knowledge. It is strictly forbidden to touch the mechanical transmission part or reach into the hot chamber when the equipment is running.

Regular inspection and maintenance:

Regular inspection and maintenance of the hydraulic system, electrical system, etc. to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.

Emergency shutdown measures:

Before maintenance or cleaning, the power must be turned off and emergency shutdown must be performed after the hot chamber die-casting machine stops running to ensure that there are no dangers and accidents when cleaning or repairing the equipment.
