Plastic switch panels of different sizes and shapes can be customised by means of corresponding injection moulds.

Mould components

The plastic light switch panel injection mould is mainly composed of two parts, including the fixed (stationary) and movable (ejector) halves of the mould.

  • The stationary half of the mould is mounted on the stationary plate of the injection moulding machine;
  • The ejector half of the mould is fixed on the movable stationary plate, which contains the ejection device for the finished plastic switch panel.

Mould Structure

  • The number of cavities can be customized (from 1 to 64), supporting hot or cold runner systems to improve production efficiency.
  • The core and cavity are typically made of stainless steel (such as S136 and 1.2083) to ensure wear resistance and long life (mold life can reach over 1 million cycles).
  • The design includes parting surfaces, ejector pin markings, and core pull mechanisms to ensure smooth demolding.

  • Switch panel molds are primarily made of engineering plastics such as ABS, PC (polycarbonate), PP (polypropylene), and PA (nylon).

Production process

Plastic switch panels are primarily produced through injection molding. This process uses an injection molding machine to inject molten plastic into a mold cavity. After cooling, it forms the desired shape of the switch panel components (such as the housing, buttons, and socket covers).

Production stages

The injection molding machine is the core equipment. And its workflow mainly divide into four stages: clamping, injection, cooling, and ejection.

Plastic Dryer

Pre-Drying

Different materials (ABS PC) need to be dehumidified before further processing, here we use dryers or integrated drying and dehumidifying loaders.

Color mixing

Colors are added to each raw material using a color mixing machine.

Injection molding

The finished colors are put into the injection molding machine and molded together according to different settings and matching moulds.

Cooling control

Precise cooling control after each cycle will determine the quality of the finished plastic switch panel. We use an air-cooled cooler for this process, and in addition, you can choose precise mould temperature control.

Assembly

Organize and regulate the accessories of each switch panel (concealed boxes, bridges, frames, etc.) and wait for the subsequent separate packaging.

Other issues

Due to the different materials of each part, there are two choices in the way of machine selection:

If the budget is sufficient

If the budget is sufficient, then configure different machines, each producing parts of different materials to maximise efficiency.

For example, in the production of ABS panels, directly configure a separate production line equipped with ABS injection moulding system to produce the part non-stop all the time, while the other production lines complete the other parts of the switch panel assembly, so that we can get a complete set of products at the first time.

If you are a novice

If you are a novice and are more concerned about the initial cost, you can only change different injection parts (screw barrels) at the same time as you change different mould parts.

Such a production can only get one type of parts for a period of time and the total productivity will be determined by the overall number of parts.
