This design allows the mold to close vertically, with the injection mechanism typically located at the top of the mold. Gravity plays an important role in filling the mold cavity and injection pressure, helping to shorten filling time and maintain consistency.
Working principle
The vertical injection molding machine heats plastic particles to melt and inject them into the mold, cools and solidifies to form the desired plastic product. And finally opens the mold to take out the finished product. The injection process usually includes the following stages:
- quantitative feeding
- melt plasticization
- pressure injection
- mold filling and cooling
- mold opening and removal of finished products
Due to the effect of gravity, the required pressure and clamping force are relatively small, so vertical injection molding machines are suitable for producing thinner or thicker parts, but may cause problems such as warping and cracking.
Advantages
Advantages of vertical injection molding machines include small footprint, easy installation and disassembly of molds, suitability for insert molding, high production efficiency, and suitability for small batch production.
Disadvantages
However, its disadvantage is that plastic products need to be manually removed or automated using robotic arms after demolding, which may result in inconsistent cycle times and the risk of component damage. In addition, the clamping force of vertical injection molding machines is usually low, with a maximum clamping force generally below 850 tons.
