What is a pet preform?

PET preform refers to a semi-finished product made by injection molding or extrusion before producing PET bottles or other containers. This preform is usually cylindrical with a certain wall thickness and height, and then further processed into the final PET container by blow molding.

Plastic resin injection: Small particles of PET resin are fed into the hopper of the injection molding machine. Small particles are heated and melted, forming a molten plastic material.

After completing injection molding, the mold containing molten plastic will cool and solidify. The cooling time will strictly controll to achieve the best effect.

After the bottle blank solidifies, open the mold and push the bottle blank out of the mold cavity with the ejector pin.

- Gate design: The gate is the entry point for molten plastic to enter the mold cavity. The correct gate design is crucial for ensuring maximum waste reduction, smooth filling, and easy removal of preforms.

- Generally, mold factories will make the mold thinner. So that 5 gallon PET preform, with 55mm bottle neck size, weight 650g, 2 cavities can use 360ton PET machine model. But that will shorten mold life. In addtion, the high-standard mold we have been equipped will be thickened. While, the same thickness of 5 gallon PET preform 2 cavities will around 800mm. Therefore, we will use our 410ton PET machine model to produce the high standards PET preforms.
