Manufacturing Process of Plastic stool With Injection Molding

The manufacturing process of plastic stools is usually done using injection molding technology. The injection molding machine is the key equipment in the production of plastic products, it is through the plastic particles are heated and melted, the use of high pressure and will be injected into the mold of molten plastic, after cooling and curing to get the desired plastic products.

The manufacturing process of plastic stools

The following is an overview of the manufacturing process for plastic stool injection molding:

Plastic raw material selection for plastic stools:

  • Polypropylene (PP): Polypropylene is a common plastic material with good mechanical properties and chemical resistance. It widely used in the manufacture of plastic chairs. For example, the Penton chair is made of polypropylene.

PP plastic raw materials

  • Polyethylene (PE): Polyethylene is also one of the commonly used materials for plastic chairs, especially high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is used to manufacture some specific types of plastic chairs because of its high strength and good impact resistance.
  • Polycarbonate (PC): Polycarbonate has high strength, high impact strength. And good transparency, commonly used in the manufacture of plastic chairs that require high strength and transparency.

PC plastic raw materials

  • ABS engineering plastics: ABS plastics are commonly used in the manufacture of chair seats and back panels due to their excellent comprehensive performance, with good impact resistance and surface treatment properties.

Mold Design of the manufacturing process of plastic stools:

  • Computer-aided design (CAD) software is used to design the mold based on the design requirements of the plastic stool. Molds are usually made of metal (e.g., steel or aluminum) and are divided into two parts for easy demolding.
  • The mold design needs to take into account the structural characteristics of the plastic stool. For example, the concave part of the side may require a slanting slide lateral core extraction mechanism to achieve smooth demolding.

Injection Molding of the manufacturing process of plastic stools:

  • An injection machine injects molten plastic through a nozzle into a mold cavity. Temperature and pressure are controlled during the injection process to ensure that the plastic fills the mold evenly and forms the desired shape.
  • Once the injection is complete, the mold is closed and pressure is maintained to ensure that the plastic maintains a consistent shape as it cools and cures.

Cooling and demolding:

  • The plastic is cooled in the mold and cured into its final shape. The cooling time needs to be adjusted according to the type of plastic and the structure of the mold.
  • Once cooling is complete, the plastic stool is removed from the mold using a push plate plus pusher push-out mechanism or another demolding mechanism.

Post-processing:

  • The surface of the plastic stool fresh from the mold will be covered with a protective film to prevent damage during transportation and storage.
  • Further processing and assembly steps may be required as needed.

With the above steps, plastic stools can be efficiently produced by the injection molding process. This process is not only suitable for mass production but can also be adapted and optimized for different design requirements.
